Searching For Excellence: The workshop had a different format to usual lessons in that the children were not constantly given instructions and answers. They had to solve things for themselves and strive to make their own meanings from the information.

The Saturday Challenge

Enrichment Opportunities!

Bob Cox is Director of ‘Searching for Excellence’ which includes in its activities the organisation and delivery of enrichment sessions on selected Saturdays in Fleet, Hampshire.  Here, Bob gives an overview of how The Saturday Challenge can support exciting and wider learning.

The Saturday Challenge offers stimulating learning opportunities for pupils aged
7-11 on a Saturday morning between 10.00am-12.20pm.  The sessions are run by experienced tutors who believe in the intrinsic value of learning in challenging ways.
So, your son or daughter will acquire new skills and deepen subject knowledge simultaneously.  For further information, latest dates and booking please email me at:

bobcox@searchingforexcellence.co.uk

We are continuously developing The Saturday Challenge and will be including sessions on maths, creative writing, science, art and philosophy for children!  Some pupils come for many sessions, others for the titles which interest them.  Anyone interested in learning more and ready for a challenge is welcome!  We always have a health and safety officer on hand and everyone supplies us with contact numbers and medical details which we keep confidential.

Sessions are priced at only £20 per session, with payment required before the day.

If you book two sessions you can get a third one free.

We make sure the sessions are fun too and here are a few comments we have had:

From parents:

Thank you for organising such fun and inspiring workshops.  We are spreading the word and can’t wait to come again next year.

Dawn loves the Saturday Challenge, even though we have to travel an hour to get there!  It’s great to get the academic stimulus they provide.

My eldest used to love coming here on Saturday mornings and now her brother is loving it too!  It’s different enough from school that they’re happy to come on a Saturday morning.  It’s a fantastic opportunity and environment to inspire the children!

From pupils:

Very exciting – it really helps to free my mind and always tests my skills to the limit.

The Saturdays are fun!  You learn how to get better at learning and the sessions are just really good!

I love The Saturday Challenge!

School Partnerships:

Please ask your school if they are working closely with us.  This really helps the impact we can make and I am grateful to the dedicated and creative teachers with whom I work from schools in Hampshire, Surrey, Bracknell Forest, Portsmouth, Windsor and Maidenhead and West Berkshire.  If your school wants to find out more, then email me:
